Witness my single greatest conversion to date: a Space Marine Master of the Forge, on a bike! This is an idea I had from the second I started this army. Mounting your HQs seems to be the new meta with 40K space marine armies because of the versatility and toughness increase. What you get for a mere 30 points is game changing. The bike makes it much harder to succumb to Instant Death, gives you an invulnerable save while moving, and makes your model relentless. These are perfect accents to a Master of the Forge.
…the true personification of a chapter obsessed with cybernetic augmentation. The Ommnisiah has truly inspired me.
I knew that I would want to run this guy a bunch of different ways, including “on foot” at times. So I devised the grand plan of cutting the torso cleanly and magnetize it so that I could attach it to the bike or the legs depending on the need. I also knew I would want a few different weapons. Maybe he would wield the Axe of Medusa or the Betrayer’s Bane relic. That led to keeping the arms separate. I also knew I needed the option for a Conversion Beamer. This S10 AP1 template weapon would be even deadlier on the move. In the end, I was left with a frankenstien of a model…the true personification of a chapter obsessed with cybernetic augmentation. The Ommnisiah has truly inspired me.
There were a few other cool conversions on this guy. I flipped and folded up the servo arms on the backpack to give it a more “mobile” look. I also added a double front wheel to the bike to give it a meaner, more custom look. He’ll need the extra torque to handle all the extra metal on board. The Conversion Beamer is a total custom piece as well. Its just a chopped down Lascannon from a Devastator kit.
The guy came out amazing. He matches the army well and is the fluffiest HQ choice for the Sons of Medusa. While not the best option for a Warlord slot, I’m sure he will see lots of play time as a secondary HQ in large games. I could even field him as Vaylund Cal, Iron Thane of the Atropos War Clan. Once again, not the best character from the Badab War, but a named character non-the-less. I have to represent the Sons no matter how obscure the fluff is!
